I found some a few full-face helmets on gmarket for less than 60,000KRW. Otherwise, you're looking at 90,000KRW and up for a full-face helmet that you buy at a shop.

I'd suggest HJC helmets, cheap and fully certified. They are Korean and are rated as the top selling helmet in the world (cause they are cheap and still meet western standards).

You should be able to pick up one of these helmets for 60,000 to 100,000. I got a really nice one for about 90,000 and have been using it for 3 years. When the visor gets too scratched up you can buy another one (visor - 15,000), or you can change to a tinted one for summer...there are a few different things you can buy for their helmets actually.

This would be what I'd recommend, most other cheap helmets sold in Korea aren't worth putting on your head.

http://www.hjc-helmet.com/product.asp?code=1#

The CL and AC helmets are the cheapest

the western website:

http://www.hjchelmets.com/

Here are some prices from Gmarket

http://global.gmarket.co.kr/

The link was too long so type in HJC and you can check out the helmet selection

or go to bikemart.co.kr

here:
http://www.bikemart.co.kr/trade/shop/bikemart_shopping2.php?class=헬멧&m_index=헬멧&maker=HJC&mx_index=

If you can't buy off line, go to Chungmuro station and find the motorcycle shops there, there will be at least one shop selling HJC helmets for a good price...or even KBC helmets....whate ever you want.

what size would you recommend that i purchase?

i am a male at around 5 foot 9 with an athletic build (which i don't think has anything to do with a helmet), but i think my head is somewhat on the larger end.
baseball caps that usually fit my friends will be extremely tight on me...

what size do most average males wear?

The best rule of thumb is to...

buy one that fits.

snug on the head but not tight and painful. If it's tight it will hurt to wear it, if it's loose like my first girl friend....your in for a head ache.

s, m, l, xl, xxl

Most waeguk males wear l or xl, some rather large cranium lads wear xxl, and the mental midgets wear m. If you are incapable of shifting your bike past 2nd gear and wonder what the lever at your right foot is....s is the size for you and I'm sure you know what that stands for.

Go to a store and try on helmets. Don't geuss. I wear an XL and can't cram my noggin into a L. Tried it once cause I thought I'd like a snugger fit. Gave me the worst head ache after about 30 minutes on the road.
