Is anyone studying Korean there now or studied there recently???
What do you think of the classes? teachers? books?
I saw an ad for Korean classes here and they have evening classes 3 times a week 2 hours a class(10 classes/month) and costs 115,000/month which is really reasonable. And Saturday classes 3 hours/class =105,000/month.
I want to start Korean classes again and this seems like a good option and much cheaper than Sogang, maybe u get what u pay or thou!!! |

I study there now, on Saturdays. I just started (only been there twice) so I guess I can't give that much input.
But everything is good so far. The teacher is really nice. No English is spoken in the classroom at all. They use Konkuk University's textbooks for the first 3 or 4 levels, I think.
My class only has 3 students. The first week I took level 301, but moved down. That class had 3 students, plus me. So I really really like the small class size because it gives students plenty of opportunity to talk.
Since I just started, I don't know how fair it is to make a judgement yet. I'm just satisfied that I have a chance to be put into a classroom for 3 hours where I'm forced to speak only Korean. Because of my working hours, I can't take classes during the week, although I really wish I could study every day.
I'd say give it a try as you only have to commit to one month at a time. I work for YBM so I get a 50% discount, which makes it really cheap for me. I don't know if I would pay the full price for only 3 hours a week. |

I did it for two months. Don't do it. All you learn is the ㅂ니다 form for the first four months, when 90% of the time you'll use the 해요 in your daily life. They teach old fashioned Korean vocabulary (어머나!? who says that? ajummas, that's who). It's better than not studying at all and its cheap, but there's better programs out there.
Do Sogang or Yonsei. |
