I have been offered a job teaching in Soeul under the SMOE.
What are they like to work for?
Do they normally stick to whats on the contract - the contract seem like a reasonable one?
I am just about to sign it and send it off - please let me know about any experiences you've had with them

as difficult as my experience at a PS was, (as many hear have heard me complain about) I'd say overall they are a good time for most teachers- my school honored the contract, there were plenty of workshops, etc. to keep work occupied, and vacation was never a problem.

so good luck when you arrive. I'd say the key to the process is a good relationship with your coteacher(s). A good CT is worth their weight in gold....

You should really search the forums--there's so many posts you can pick from. If you need help narrowing it down, you can also google "Dave's ESL Cafe" and whatever topic you are interested in.

That being said, I can understand that the sheer magnitude of related posts is a little daunting--trust me, I know, I went through most of them. Confused
Since your question is specifically related to contracts, I suggest you looking at the "SMOE Contract Sucks" post. It's basically a post where people debate if the contract does in deed suck--you'll get a variety of answers so it may be helpful.

Also, if you're serious about doing SMOE, you should really send your "stuff," i.e. packet of documents, very soon. It takes about two weeks for SMOE to receive your documents and then send your NOA in response. You'll need the NOA to start the visa process if you're going to get a E-2. Keep in mind that orientation is in three weeks.
