I'm looking for someone who is going to the States soon who could take my laptop along and bring it back to me when coming back to Seoul.

The reason is that I have a laptop that needs to be fixed but the warranty is good only in the States, and I think this is my last month for the warranty. Getting it fixed in Korea is far too expensive and shipping to the States and then back to Korea is just as expensive if not more.

So, for the person who could help me out, here is how it would work. HP would send you a box home, then you would only have to put the laptop in the box and mail it back to HP, wait a few days, get the laptop back and bring it back with you to Korea. Everything is all paid for by HP, so you would never have to pay for anything at all along the process. Of course, I'd be glad to pay you a fee for all the help.

So, if you are going to the States soon and think you could help me out with my problem, please let me know, so we can discuss about the fee and some proof you can show me that you are coming back, for example your round trip ticket.

Cheers!

What is inside the laptop? Opium? Heroin? Kimchi?

Smile

Just in case someone would worry about that (see sobriquet's joke above), the laptop is still functioning except for the wireless connection being out of order. So you could test it as much as you like and even use it to play movies or whatever on the plane.

Anyone familiar with HP laptops might know it's a common problem with some of their laptops, so much that HP has extended the 1 year warranty to 2 years on some models... but one has to send the laptop to HP in the U.S.; otherwise, HP Korea says replacing the mother board would be between 3 to 400,000 won. I wish you all the luck but, I can hardly predict you're gonna see folks bending over backwards for you. Especially w/ homeland security to deal with. Maybe if you're paying, though. That might work. Wink

That's exactly why I wrote this:

It's a long shot, I know, but I keep my fingers crossed hoping to find someone. If worst comes to worst, then I'll keep the laptop as it is and then cross my fingers hoping the wireless connection is and will remain the only problem I have. Still, I'm a bit annoyed that HP has offices in Korea but will fix the laptop for free only in the States.

Out of interest.

Why do you think somebody would not steal it?

If I were going back and it were convenient, I would probably do it. Having had some computer issues over here myself, I know they can be a bit of a pain to sort out. I offered to pick up an A/C adapter for another poster when I went back in January. I had the time, and I was right next to an Apple Store. There are some nice folks around. Good luck OP!

Yes, I admit it's a possibility that someone could try to steal the laptop, but I still think most people are honest. At any rate, that's why I wrote that will ask the person (if I can find someone!) to give me some solid proof that he/she is coming back, like a round trip ticket and work place information so I can check with them.
