I just entered on a new E-2 visa and I have a new passport since my last E-2 visa (just 6 months ago.)
Does anyone know if my ARC number will be the same when I get my card? |

If you left the country then yes it will change. You shold of given your old arc card in when you left as it is invalid. |

Kasain is correct. Your ARC only changes if you leave the country and have to apply for a new card. I changed my passport once since being here. However, they kept both my ARC and passport for 5 days to process it. Why 5 days? Because it's immigration and they can get away with it. |

I'm talking about my alien registration NUMBER.
I gave up my old ARC when I left the country. In between E-2 visas, I got a new passport.
It sounds like the number will be the same when I am issued a new alien registration card. |

The number remains the same. I returned to Korea to teach after 1.5 years with a new passport, my new ARC card had the same number as my previous one. However, when I made a new account at Hana Bank they were mightely confused that there was a previous account with all my previous info and numbers but my passport didn't match up. The woman refused to befief it was a new passport number issue and not naything suspiscious. It was resolved when the manager came. |

Long ago, maybe pre-2000, you would get a new ARC number, but they've been somewhat standardized since then.
I have had similar problems to those mentioned above because I have a bank account I've had since the old ARC numbers and an old passport. |
