So just as I think I have enough money to enjoy a good Japanese beer and a doughnut, a guy I meet here in Japan also doing his visa run reminds me that I may need a ticket out of Korea before they let me into the country again.

Is this right? At what point do I need to burnish proof of paid exit ticket to Korean authorities? Is it upon disembarking from plane or ferry into Korea with the first immigration official I meet, or is it later when I get my new ARC card sorted out?

A rapid and definitive answer would be really helpful.

If you are inJapan picking up your new working visa, then you do not require to show an exiting ticket. The only time you require an exiting ticket is when you enter a country on a tourist visa. And even then, it is the airline that can refuse you to get on the plane, as they are the ones held responsible for letting you go. If that is the case, then you can sign a waiver releasing them of responsibility.

Thanks a lot Polonius.
The guy I met last night was travelling on a tourist visa and reminded me of a time I`d done so too, and had been held up for the exiting ticket reason. I was caught on it last night because I`d always had another ticket every other time.
Asah! - Suntory and real fresh doughnuts for breakfast!
