Meh, it is what it is. More like high-impact dancing than an effective fighting method. It's a good workout I'm sure.

since the most effective fight techniques kill people, you aren't going to see a lot of videos featuring them are you?

It is not the style but rather the fighter, although going into a UFC fight thinking you are going to employ TKD and not get slaughtered is silly.

What a shame the eight year olds' demos didn't meet the man's standards. Guy seems like a tool.

Hapkido might be worse. Some days we just do combat rolls and cartwheels for an hour. I'm in the best shape of my life though.

Well, if you can't stop a mugger, maybe you can entertain them.

So rolling on the ground puts people in shape.. Thats a new concept.. I bet you wouldn't last 20 minutes in my Kickboxing class.

You would do well in the 'pick a fight' thread.

In my TKD class we focus on traditional sparring, fitness and a extra punching tecnique. The sparring form of TKD is not effective in that it is more sport than combat with little punching.

WTF TKD is undergoing changes at this point to make it more practical and effective. The reason it exists in this form is so that they could satisfy the olympic commitee back when they were tryng to get in.

Low kicks and good punching skill are most practical, but a front kick to the balls is pretty hard to get up from.
