Just curious how other teachers deal with female students who happen to be very good looking.

I work in Russia and I must say it is amazing how gorgeous some of my students are. 90% of my students are female.

Now, let me say I mostly teach adults and university students!

A lot of them are "kept women" with rich husbands or boyfriends.

I have sent some group photos to my family and friends back home, and often I get the comment "It looks like you're working at a modeling school". Thinking back on my days as a student, it is true. There were never so many good looking girls in my classes at university.

I'm not a letch, and would never hit on a student. But when I'm leading a class with several beautiful faces looking back at me, it is quite a thrill. I try to ignore their looks and focus on the work, not allowing myself to stare, even though I may want to. Example, this morning I started teaching a new group, and one 20 year old girl who sat in the front row, less than a meter from my desk, was wearing a very low cut shirt showing off quite a bit of cleavage. Whenever she leaned forward to write an answer or notes, I got quite a view.

I do my best, not to let it affect me, but I have noticed whenever there is one or more beautiful face in a group, I tend to feel a bit nervous while teaching, and act much more professional. By the end of the lesson, I always feel exhilarated. Whereas, if it's a normal group I feel more relaxed and casual.

I try not to give too much attention to good looking students, and keep it equal among everyone in the class. Another example is a young woman who has a really great smile, and whenever she gives an answer she always has this beaming smile on her face. It is impossible not to smile back at her, even if she has the completely wrong answer. Sometimes I think the other students must notice it, but I guess they just realise she is a beautiful person and will always receive special attention.

So how do you deal with it?

The most interesting/fun women I've met were NOT the most beautiful ones.

That said, just picture your students as nagging 60-something older women with hideous corns on their feet.
