University instructors, can you choose which textbook you use?
Rarely have I been allowed to choose and it bugs me to no end. I have goals and objectives that I want to reach and I know what tool(s) will get us there. But why do departments seem to want to dictate to me what tool I use?
Did the pope tell Michelangelo what paintbrush to use? Does one doctor tell another what medicine to prescribe?
So I'm curious about other instructors' experiences. |

For the mass 1-yr course, they let the foreign instructors choose as a group at our school, most of the time. Other classes, they let us choose. |

I had to choose my own, and order them as well down at the local book store.
The level of English at my university is probably comparable to an average eorini jib in Seoul, so my goals are modest to say the least. |
