If you can't find any information on a Hagwon does that mean it's most likely bad news?
I have an interview for a school called Pepperdine in Anyang and it's the first time I can't find ANY info on it! Not a blog, not a forum post, not anyone who listed under job info on facebook or myspace. The only thing I can find is Job Postings for it.
Does this mean the school is most likely no good? Has anyone else ever worked for a school that had no information on it? |

It's either new, or none of the employees are into the internet, or no one working there has serious complaints. |

No info means you'll have to do a little more work yourself. Ask questions of current and former teachers.
There are thousands of small schools in Korea, and a large percentage of them have litle or no information available on Dave's or the internet. Some are new, some are not. Some will turn out great, some terrible. Be careful, and good luck. |

I came in 2003 and recall back then a school should at the very least have some kind of home page.
If this school doesn't have that by now - in 2009 - I'd say it's a big red flag. so yes, be aware - too many teachers are posting about their schools floundering and they aren't getting paid - a small school is very risky - they could be taking a chance that having a FT will bring in more students even.
I'd say take a pass and go on to someone bigger and better established. if you are already here you could go visit but since you aren't, you need to be extra cautious. |

No information can mean a few things:
1) No one felt that it was important to write anything about the school in English.
2) The school is new.
3) The school changed its name.
In any of these cases, I would probably pass on the school. Having no information upon which to make a decision is usually more dangerous than not. |

Doesn't mean much.
In the average city in Korea, there is an English-e hagwon in every building. In a mid-size city, there are three English-e hagwons in every building.
Maybe you'll be the first FT.
Maybe the the previous FTs didn't post crap about their hagwon on the internet. |
