My girlfriend and I have been searching for a decent job in Korea for a while now, and had (what we thought) were the required documents for the E2 Visa; 2 sealed sets of transcripts, notarized and apostilled criminal record checks, original degree certificates and passports.

Now we find the checklist for the GEPIK programme wants 3 sets of transcripts (2 to send to Korea, 1 for the consulate interview) an apostilled copy of the degree certificates (as well as the originals) and 2 versions of the criminal record check with apostille - the original and a copy.

Has anyone else from the UK applied for the GEPIK programme? We've been offered the positions to start May 1st but getting all these extra documents is going to take ages, cost a load and be a real pain in the arse. Did anyone else have an interview at the consulate? I thought that once the documents had been approved in Korea, a number/document was emailed to you which you sent with your passport to the Korean consulate in your country to get the E2 visa stamp.

We'd be grateful for any advice anyone has about it - especially as we've got a good offer for an immediate departure for a job in China.

I would hop in a car, go to wherever your university is, and then buy the transcripts. Stop whining, get the documents, and you'll be in sparkling Korea in no time.

That's a good idea except it takes two months for the uni to process them and we're supposed to start on May 1st.

My ancestors were from England and it didn't take them two months to 'pull up stakes', cross the Atlantic and 2/3 of a continent... this was before the Panama Canal. Wink WTF is wrong with your university?

Yeah it's got the worst admin you can imagine. When I ordered the first two sets there was about a 15 min window of opportunity when you could get through to the right department on the phone.

I was just wondering how rigid the GEPIK requirements are, I've read loads of contradicting things about what you can send copies of or need originals of or need apostille stamps on etc.
