The Herald hagwons have a bad reputation, in Korea, for non-payment of salary, pension, health insurance, and breaking contracts. I don't know about that location. |

Is that the same as "Kid's ...?"
There's one near here that a friend of mine worked at. In the one year he was there, the school had something like 18 employees through the year, and the entire staff turned over at least once. He saw three other foreigners come and go -- one of them sued the boss at the Labor Board and won. He had at least three Korean directors in that time -- possibly four. By the time he left, he was the only person to have been there a year. Not a single person he started with, Korean or foreigner remained, other than the boss! As he neared the end of his contract, the boss kept adding more and more work (probably hoping he'd quit). My friend was too easy-going and just did everything the boss asked -- hiring new employees, phone English off-hours, etc. He made it through a year, and still got screwed on benefits.
He came back to another job a few months later, and tried to visit his old school. The current foreigner told him the boss wouldn't allow him in. How's that for a "thank-you" for staying through your whole contract? |

A current co-worker of mine worked there in the past, based on what she has told me, I would avoid all of their campuses. In her particular case, this is what struck me as the most blatant warning sign; when she finished her contract, they didn't pay her last month's salary nor her bonus. They said "Oh, we have to withhold those for your pension." Being new, she didn't realize that she had been paying pension the entire time, and was swindled out of her last month's pay and severance. |

I had a bad experience at one that shall not be named. But it's South of Seoul and North of Daejeon, just about 1/2 way. |

Why not tell us the specifics so teachers wont get screwed. What is it with all this secrecy here? Its just a hagwon! |
