I am talking to a video game company that wants to hire me to work in Korea. What kind of visa would I need to get if I am going to be working for that company full time for a year or longer? What is the process of getting said visa? |

There is another working Visa in Korea.. I think its a D something..
check the Korean immigration website.
In order to get it I think they have to demonstrate they can't replace you with a Korean, which unless you have some very unique talent could be rather difficult. They're only good for up to a year I believe so after a year you might have to renew. I'm not sure if you'd need to leave the country or if you could renew in country. |

The visa you need is the E7 visa. These are difficult to obtain but if your qualifications are in IT try http://www.goldcard.or.kr/ .
This is the easiest way otherwise the E7 visa can be a nightmare, it took me 2 months to get a visa that was only valid for 1 year.
Good Luck

Thanks to both of you for the help. It does sound like a bit of a difficult one to get because according to the website you put up, it only covers these areas:
e-commerce (enterprise information system, e-business), new materials, transportation equipment, digital electronics, biotechnology, nanotechnology, environment and energy, and management of technology.
My role in the gaming business would be research, game development, story writing, and localization for the American market. Do you think it falls under any one of those categories? The game is World War II based and I am a WWII historian as well as a creative writer.
If not, do you think that there is any other kind of visa I could apply for? I thought about a C-2 or C-4 Visa but they are only limited to 90 days. Would they be able to issue me an E-2 visa if they kind of fudged the paper work and said I would be teaching English to the employees?
Thanks again. |

The burden shouldnt be on you to organise the visa. If the company wants to hire you, they will have to organise it. I doubt a company will be able to sponsor you for an E2 ~ unless they have a training dept. |

I would think that if the company wanted to sponsor you, you would not have any difficulty. |
