I would like to be in Busan in an EPIK job for September 2009.
I have heard that in order to get the location that you want, you should get a recruiter to put you in an EPIK position in the location you want.
Do you experienced people agree with that?
the EPIK national office will ask me to rank the provinces and then put me wherever's clever, right?
Does anyone know of any recruiters that are in good with Busan positions?
Does anyone know if KimnJoe would be a good way to go?
Seeing as they're rushing to fill positions for March 2009 now, when should I apply for September? Right away? Closer to September?
Any input so much good and thank you. |

I originally got a public school job through Kim and Joe in countryside just above Busan. They still recruit for the positions sponsored by the power plant. YBM took over the management of the other teachers in that area. I left obviously.
I got my current job through a different recruiter who had a contract with one of the education offices in Busan. That was for the September semester. There are of course a lot more positions for March than September. |

I'm not familiar what is YBM? A recruiter?
You were in the countryside above Busan? Is that like a train ride away from the city? Rural?
Is that just the way things happen? That there are more March positions than September?
When abouts did you apply for your September position?
I am really scared of hagwons from what I've read here . I don't have any experience with Korea and I don't want to get screwed. I want a public school job in a city. Do you think I have a better chance with Seoul?
Please advise and thanks for input. I'm kind of swimming in uncertainties. |

City job positions will understandly fill faster than countryside ones.
I have a car. It took me 30-45mins to drive from central Pusan to the country schools, so not far out. The teachers who work for the power plant schools generally commute from Haeundae. They get a bus.
YBM is a hagwon chain.
I applied late for my current September position, i.e August. I was lucky the recruiter had some left. The new contract at the country school(with YBM involvement) wasn't as good as the original so I left .
I am very happy with my current school. I am half way through my second contract there.

Horangi Munshin,
I sent you a PM. But could you tell me the recruiter that you used to get your current position? If you don't mind.
Thanks |

It was BCM. They are a hagwon chain, but did or do some recruiting for public schools too. My position isn't an after school programme. |

I am currently working rural from Haeundae, sponsored by the power plant. My contract is coming up in a month, so I will have to see if my contract conditions change if indeed YBM has taken over this area.
Additionally, I have a friend that got a job out in this area, and his recruiter initially told him that the contract was through YBM. However, he was informed this weekend that is not the case any longer, and he is gonna fill me in on the details as he gets them. |

So did you get a contract with housing that is in Heaundae but you're working out in the hills? Or did you set up your own living arrangements? |
