I recently got the Samsung M-480. It's cool. I love the full keyboard, though I'm still getting used to it. Sometimes if I want to type 'c' for example, I hit the button three times, out of habit.
But, I now love surfing the internet on my phone. I am right now. I'm out of town right now and don't have a computer. I check email on the subway.
This was well worth the investment.
Oh, and if you check out the phone online or in a shop, the black square between the Windows and OK buttons is actually a mouse. Swipe your thumb, and the mouse cursor moves... ! |

What does it cost to surf the internet on your cell-phone? I've heard it can be exorbitant. |

Were you able to get yours in English? I have had it for about 5 months now and although i have figured out the Korean I would really love to have the English option put on it. |

I don't know what the cost of internet is, honestly, I'll let you know what my bill is. But, it also has Wi-Fi, so sometimes surfing is free.
And, there's no English. That's the downside. I even emailed Samsung asking if I could patch it with something from Samsung USA, and they replied with a very polite 'no.' |

what's the battery life like on that device?
Can you get email automatically pushed directly to the Samsung M-480? Or do you have to manually check email?
If I buy this phone on contract rather than pay as you go, is it much cheaper?
I will be in Seoul in a week and I want something like that. I can read hangeul but can't speak korean. It's a shame u cant get it in English. Anyway, what's the learning curve for this device like?
I am currently using the t-mobile dash which also has a qwerty keyboard and runs on Windows mobile 5 but i can't use this gsm phone in Korea. I might consider buying this phone is it is that good!
Thanks |

There are SO many options here now, and a few more might be coming shortly...
Nokia? Finally?

Have to wait and see about some of the stuff on that page. Also heard that Blackberry supposedly is making its way here for "corporate" customers...whatever that means.

One of my younger private students told me that the Samsung Omnia is THE best these days. "Oh, yes! Better than the Haptic 2. THE best!" Maybe because his mom has one or something? Can't seem to find it in my searches, but maybe it's that M490 one(SCH-M490 T-Omnia/옴니아)? Looks very nice, but for $1,000? Hope it has free kimchi and beer coming out of a couple of its slots.

This is the one I have, albeit, thankfully, in blue...

I call it a "Stupid Phone", not a smart one as it seems bloody slow on the internet. You can select primarily English menus over the Korean ones, but you definitely need some Korean ability for the internet and the dmb feature, among others. Much louder and better sound than the last three phones I've had here. Comes with a nice stylus that can use one of four modes(easily changed between them): keypad, conti, box, or keyboard...I personally find the conti(touch-screen is divided into four quadrants - 1st is for Korean, 2nd is for numbers, 3rd is for uppercase English, and 4th is for lowercase English) mode pretty nifty and usually the quickest for messages and the keyboard better for surfing. Although not set up, it seems like E-mail capabilities are available through the "Message Centre"...again a bit of Korean is necessary there. Currently, I'm getting unlimited internet access, which will last for a total of 9 months apparently. Again, I don't surf as much as I should as it's not as convenient(quick) as I thought it'd be. I'm on a two-year plan, and I recommend that you shop around a fair bit to get a plan that's good, as I don't think that my plan is all that great...think I'll only be getting a measly 3 hours of internet time free monthly after the initial nine months are finished. Also seems like the price has dropped about 100 since I bought it... |

I've been thinking about getting the m480. where'd you pick it up? I've seen price ranges anywhere from 200,000 to 400,000, any tips? |
