On a little bit of a time crunch to make my start date. I was in Korea on an E2 Visa from 2005 until fall 2008. I sent my documents to the Toronto consulate to affix the consular seals and I am currently waiting to have all my documents return by mail.

I know I can make a visa run in Japan since I've held an E2 visa before. Would I need all the regular documents there? Nothing special? If I show up with my issuance letter, passport, 2 passport photos, set of transcripts, application form and money everything should be alright?

Has anyone done this under the new rules?

How long does it take?

you'd probably get more responses in the job discussion board.
