...even for a k-gal. i came across this video from them promoting their new youtube channel (i guess, seeing as how my korean sux)..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybr54dtc6I0&feature=dir
but u can see shes covering her tummy, wearing darker colors, and obviously being self-conscious about it.
i heard recently she was catching flack about being over weight. this is insane. it's the promotion of unhealthy body images that has girls up-chucking everything they eat while downing diet pills and gets guys shooting steroids by the time their 19 that causes a lot of psychological problems later in life.
when will the koreans learn that "healthy" means having a little body fat on u? certainly obese people gross me out too. and when i see those super sized white chicks at cold stone in itaewon ordering a large cone for one person, it makes me want to cram a salad down their throat, but thats not what im talking about.
curves r sexy. and enjoying life with great food is something people in poorer countries would love to experience. so put the kimchi, rice, and water aside for one friggin day hangookins and enjoy a pepsi with a greasy @$$ burger ever now and then.
celebrate voluptuous women. curves r sexy.
.. ok. stepping off soap box. rant over. |

we've had this discussion already
she's alwways been my fave Wondegirl.
She's not fat, but I prefer her the way she "was".
She has 2 problems
1) big time fat face. aka moonface - a problem I also share. Means any weight she puts on goes straight to her face and makes her looks fatter/swollen
2) she doesn't have the benefit of height - the taller you are, the more forgiving the extra pounds are, sometimes even they are a great benefit, but she's not tall.
I do wonder what happened with her, just after She's So hot (where she looked hot) and then Nobody, when she just started putting on a little weight.
but after Nobody the weight gain became fairly big (by her recent known historical standards)
hence the hub-bub. Wonder what happened. Lost her virginity to a cad that left her and she's been crying herself to sleep in a batch of ice cream?
she'a also aged 5+ years in the last 5 months (going from around 20, to mid to late 20's looking) |

Oh I do. And I've been vocal about my bitching re Korean 'flatness'.
I wouldn't call her "fat" by any stretch. Not even overweight by that video.
but I wish she wouldn't cover herself up so much. i can't tell her what she looks like now.
a little curvature wouldn't hurt her a bit. I just hope there's nothing "dangling" somewhere where it shouldn't be |

I feel REAL sorry for those of you who actually care and think Wondergirls are even singers
Shows what people actually think of music these days, or should I say garbage! |

I clicked on the wrong thread, but then I bothered to read it. Yay.
I'm surprised foreigners in Korea would actually give a shit about this topic. I have no idea who this group is, and I think I'll leave it that way.

If you have no idea who this group is, you must not be in Korea. It's one thing to think they are terrible, but never to have heard of them while in Korea sounds impossible. The Wonder Girls have had a couple catchy tunes, but I think the girsl of "Girls' Generation" look way better (though their songs never stick in my head and are quite forgettable). I like their goopnay chicken cf, even though it makes no sense.
And Yubin is not fat, but that doesn't mean she looks good. |

It's the fat chick from Wondergirls, if I remember correctly. Some of us teach Elementary and can't escape pop culture. Anyhow, I would hit is sideways. That is all. |

Do you only teach middle-aged people and plug your ears and cover your eyes every time you step out the door? Otherwise it's physically impossible for you to avoid the Wondergirls.
Posts like this are no different from the kid in high school who would haughtily snort and then inform you that he had never heard of <insert Top 40 band name here> because "Pop is such crap - I listen to real music." Of course he's full of shit, but he needs to feel superior to other people, so he pretends that he's so cultured that he actually is above the lowbrow bullshit the unwashed masses partake in. |

It's actually worse. Caniff is such a terrible teacher that he doesn't know or care about his students even to the point of knowing what kind of music they listen to. Instead of conversation classes that go "I like Yubin because she is smart." or "I like G-Dragon because he has style." Caniff's conversation classes go "Hihowareyoufinethanksandyou?" |

Caniff doesn't teach children. He's at or near the top of this industry where you are considered a bottom feeder. |

Haha.. King Shit of Turd Hill..
Color me impressed.
That's even worse, really, since he doesn't seem to understand his audience. I teach 12 students per class, 5 classes a day. If Caniff is actually designing curriculum, it puts him in a position to do a *lot* more damage than any one of us. |
