Here in U.S., the TEFL cert program. costs $1095. The sessions are held on the weekends for a period of 3 weeks, less than 100 hrs. I read if you have a TELF cert., it has to more than 100 hrs of training. I read it only costs $200 on the internet and you actually train for 100 hrs. What is the difference in hrs? Does it really matter? |

The reputation of the TESOL provider and the quality of the program is more important than the location. |

Many online course are incredibly easy and not very applicable to teaching conversation classes to older age groups in Korea. The extra 20 hours (120 hours vs. 100 hours) is usually due to a practicum in which your teaching is supervised. So yes, the number in hours does matter if you want to make teaching part of your future. If you are getting a TESOL for a raise only, then the number of hours only has to be 100 or more. |

sojusucks, is there a good 120 hour course with a practicum that can be done over the weekend and the rest online (in Korea)? I'm coming over and want a TEFL but it doesn't affect my first year salary (PS, and I already qualify for the same level the TEFL would give me, based on other credentials).
And if such a thing exists, how much is it? And is it useful outside of Korea?
