I need about 2 mil to cover the rest of my housing deposit. As a public school teacher, it's more than they would allow. I'm happy there and don't want to move.

Could I use my account at Nong Hyup bank as I believe they are a credit union.

I've got a Hana Bank BC Card. Will that give me a credit limit?

There are places like Rush n' Cash but don't want to pay out at high interest rates.

I make it a point not to do business with friends, co-workers, family or even the mafia.

Any ideas?

Go into your bank and ask about a loan..

I think you should rethink the whole mafia thing.

You have a card but don't know if it has a credit limit? Bank or credit union, they don't just extend you credit.

Furthermore, you're a foreigner with no credit history, unstable job, no cash, and no assets. Seriously, what bank is going to take that risk? It's worth talking to the bank about, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Your best bet is to get credit from your home country where you have a credit history. If I'm wrong about the cash or assets, use those.

I am very sure if you find a way to effectively communicate and state your case that they will try to find a way to help you out.

I am really lucky. I have a Korean American Express (Samsung) with a 3mil credit limit. My university even helped me get it. Not sure if a hogwon teacher can get it.

you must be so lucky

the credit limit Samsung gave me is 7 million..

does that make me more lucky?

really.. I try to never use it - (credit card debt sucks)

To the OP - can't you negotiate your key-deposit down 2 million -

If you are using a "Real estate agent" they will be very happy to arrange this for you - because they want the "Realtors fee" as soon as you sign the contract...

I am sure the apartment owners would give you the reduction if you allowed them to increase your rent 50,000won per month...

Credit card might work, KEB will give temporary 2.5mill per month increase over current credit limit (for two months). You could then revolve it, but not sure about the interest rate on it. They will do something similar for cash advance but not as high.

I don't need any more than 3mil. I mainly use my credit card for shopping at Costco and buying an ocassional airline ticket. Costco only accepts Samsung cards.

I would never charge more than 3mil.
