I am headed to the seattle consulate tomorrow for the interview, and know i should dress up, but how much? Full suit and tie? Or just a shirt and tie, or just nice slacks and shirt with no tie...or what??

Shirt and tie. Casual would even work. All you have to do is smile and say Kimchee and you're in! Very Happy

I felt fine in an open-collar shirt, slacks and a decent pair of shoes (I got the visa). But if you are concerned, a suit wouldn't hurt. The consul will probably be wearing a suit.

I went to the consulate in Atlanta and wore jeans and a button-down.

Course, the interview wasn't standard fare. It lasted about 10 minutes with two other applicants in the room because the consulate was busy or something. I think he just wanted lunch.

I wore a long sleeve button up and slacks (no tie) and i felt overdressed. There were some other scrubs in the office too with holey jeans and metallica t-shirts and they apparently got accepted.

Wear whatever's comfortable unless you need the Visa the same day and looking for a favor. I hear they never approve a Visa in 1-day but it happened to me. My boonie county in Korea took forever to send me back my paperwork and I was going to miss orientation. Times like that, dressing up a bit helps.

Dress up like Will Smith in the Pursuit of Happiness. Tell them you were in jail for parking tickets and tell them you are wearing really nice pants. Make sure you have the paint in your hair.

yeah they're really good at the Seattle consulate, aren't they? First time around, they had my visa ready the next day. Same this time around. No interview for me both times though...

I wore cargo shorts and a t-shirt when I went....then again they only asked me how I would encourage my studenst to learn english, so it was a complete waste of time anyways. At least though i didnt waste more time by getting dressed up.

You're not required to have an interview for a public school job on an E2 visa, correct? I want to get mine processed the same day instead of mailing it in due to time constraints.

She just said I needed to bring:

letter of confirmation
signed EPIK contract
passport + photo
sealed transcript
copy of CBC

Just curious if anybody has had recent experiences at the Seattle consulate getting it done in the same day and if all the above docs are required or more than this.
