I was wondering if anyone could answer the following questions about Ansan?
1. How far from Seoul ( travel time)is it compared to Suwon, Bucheon and Ilsan.
2. How cold does it get during the winter?
3. How is the the area in general compared to Suwon, Bucheon and Ilsan?
thanks |

1. Ansan is about an hour from Sadang station in Seoul. It is about one and a half hour trip from Itaewon.
2. I'm not sure about the temperature. Ansan is not up in the mountains, if that helps.
3. All of this depends on what you are looking for. |

#1 See Mr. Crowley's answer.
#2 It's generally a little windier than in most parts of Seoul, and perhaps a few degrees colder, but nothing substantial.
#3 Ansan has everything you'd need; HomePlus, E-Mart, LotteMart, Bus Terminal, Subway line (light blue #4), shopping districts (Sangnoksu, Handae-ap, Jung-Ang, Ansan Stations)... I've never lived in Suwon, Ilsan or Bucheon... |

Hi, I live in ansan
It is about 1.20 minutes by subway from Itawaen.
Ansan is not a bad area (I actually really like it)
Positives: there are quite a few foreigners here. but also in Ilsan and Bucheon from what I hear. Suwon not so much.
less crowded and polluted than Seoul but still many amenities.
1 groups yu can check out for yourself on facebook...I'm new to Ansan and Shiheung.
Ansan is a fairly small satellite city just outside of Seoul so u can get to know other foreigners after awhile but consists of about 8 subway stops and how good it is depends on where yu live.
Handaep, Sanbon, Jungang are good stations to live near.
Oido and Jeungwang less so, more korean and more residential Oido is acually countryish.
Neg: Takes a while to travel to the popular areas in Seoul.
Tell me where your job is and can give yu more info. |

I hear Ilsan is good and like Ansan in having lots of foreigners and being cleaner than Seoul, plus is closer travel distance from the popular foreign areas in Seoul, only about 40 minutes to Itawaen from my friend's subway stop so Ilsan should be better but really depends on where in Ilsan and Ansan the 2 jobs are I guess.
If you're deciding between jobs, I really find it's helpful that I live only 1 block from the subway and think is partly why I like Korea so much so far. |

I live in Ansan, its small but very much a nice town, I dont see too many foreigners and I have to be the only black person here lol... but the city is close to Seoul, I go to the city alot, and it takes an hour on the train (it feels like less than that). I live in downtown Ansan, in the tallest building and there is a club next to it, jazz bars and bars galore lol... its a nice city to start in and so close to Seoul.. try it! |
