|
|
I have been told, both by my consulate, that I do need an interview at my consulate to get my VISA under GEPIK, and then that I do NOT need an interview at the consulate to get my VISA under GEPIK. Did anyone have to interview at the Atlanta Consulate for a VISA for GEPIK? I will call again and guess I'll take two out of three answers |

You do not need an interview because you are working for a public school. |

I'm a GEPIK teacher and the Boston consulate didn't require me to have an interview to get my visa last November. They just told me to send my documents and 3 days later my visa arrived. I've been told that every consulate/embassy is different. Just call the consulate and see what they require, they are the ones that will be giving you your visa. |

According to my current understanding of Immigration law, you don't need an interview if you already teach in Korea.
If you are new to teaching in Korea, then that could be a different story. |

I'm new, so I've been told I have to come in since it's my first time. Nuts. I don't want to drive to Atlanta, but can't affortd to fly. Does anyone know if I really have to mail the documents ahead of time, or can I take them in at the interview? |

This whole visa process is terribly confusing and inconsistent. I'm pretty sure that the visa process completely changes depending on what consulate you have to go through. I was lucky, in that the New York City consulate only needed me to mail in my documents with a self addressed Express envelope. |
