Say you were offered a job at a large hagwon in Korea, accepted it, then the next day changed your mind, and the hagwon tells you because you did this you will be on their system blacklist and it will be hard to find another esl job in Korea?
Is this just an internal list they have for their company, or does it make its way at all to other employers/schools and/or the korean consulate and really hurt your chances?
Should it even be worried about? |

The only sign that you accept a job is if you signed the contract and sent your visa paperwork in. If you haven't started it, I would hardly call it accepting.
If they are threatening you like that, then that must mean you almost got suckered into a crappy job. They thought they could use you. Now they have to find someone else.
It's not like they could have had a teacher and were waiting weeks. However, yea, never expect an offer from them again.
In Japan, a second school asked if I could do a workshop. I told them sure, just let me get permission from the main school I was working at to make sure times didn't conflict. I called back after 30 minutes and they said they got someone else to teach. From that point on, they never hired me to work at their school. I could only do coffee shop lessons, LOL. |

i'd say you dodged a bullet by declining an offer from any company that would threaten you for not signing. they might be able to "blacklist" you from their own company, but they have no authority with immigration or alternate employers. don't give it a second thought (assuming you haven't sent in any personal documents - diplomas, transcripts, etc.). |

At least you aren't on the public school's blacklist.
Many hogwons belong to the Hogwon Association. Chances are you may not be able to find work with most hogwons.
However, you probably will be able to find a job with a public school. |

nothing to worry about. Had a few friends who have been threatened with being put on the so called blacklist and immigration blacklist and they had no problems securing other jobs, hagwon and public school.
Which large hagwon threatened this just out of interest? YBM? CDI? |
