I'm really curious to find out which is more popular. |

I think it would be stupid to share an apartment when there are so many available jobs that give you private accommodations.
The only way I'd share, is with good friends I knew and trusted. There are too many whack jobs and people that do midnight runs and steal your stuff. Believe me, you don't want to share unless you know the people you'll be sharing with. |

You don't want to share with a stranger! Trust me on this.
I share now with my husband, but that's by choice. |

I was planning on making a private apartment one of the terms of my contract, but I wasn't sure which is more common. |

If you're still in your home country, you might want to make sure to let them know that if they bait and switch you on the contract, you'll be on the first plane out of the country. Just a threat, but makes them realize that you won't settle for anything less. Believe me, it's worth it to have the peace of mind of having your own place.
You can always hang out with your friends and party at their homes, but at least you'll have privacy when you need it.
Nothing like coming home to find half your stuff gone, or realize that someone (even a friend of one of your roomies) has rifled through your belongings. |

For the last 23 years, I have lived with my parents and, for most of that time, at least one of my sisters. Aside from roomate concerns voiced here, I want to have a home that I do not have to share. |

If it's with a stranger, they may turn out to be really fun and cool. But it's a gamble. |

Doesnt matter if it`s a 3 bedroom and you`re the best of friends with the person. You`ll eventually get on each other`s nerves. Definitely take no roommate if you value your sanity and dont want to post about it in a couple of weeks. |

This type of advice is stupid. Why would you want to introduce an element of mistrust into your employment relationship so early, before you are even in the country.
To the op
Single one room accom is the most common. Generally if you have shared accom the apartment is bigger and nicer, but then you are stuck with a strange person for a year. And believe me there are a lot of strange people here. |

Voted shared, but this is NOT through my job. I'm not sure I'd even take a single apartment that was connected to a job again. I'd rather find my own place. Even if it is shared. |

Haven't any of you been to college, or lived in a large city where a roommate is necessary?
One roommate, if you're on decent terms, is more than fine. Or even two. I wouldn't even consider it as a contract term though. Crapshoot as to who'll you'd get. |

In New Zealand flatting is normal. I shared a flat with 7 other people (massive house tho 8 bedrooms) and we all got along.
However we started off as friends and any new people that came in we interviewed. we also had three living rooms and a massive outdoors with built in pool.
In korea if you accepted shared accom you would be just put in with whoever or you could be lucky and have a nice person or you could luck out and end up with an retard. |

Now let's see..
When I grew up, obviously I lived with family.
Then I went off to boarding school, so that was shared accommodation.
Then I went to uni #1 and was back at home because the dorm room available at uni was so small that even my dad was aghast... so he told me to just go home and commute (it was only 40 minutes, so not that big a deal).
Uni #2... I was away from home in London... refused to share my accommodation with anyone, so daddy funded my one bedroom flat.
Came to Korea.. shared a place with my now ex-husband. Now, I am in my own place and am sharing it with my 4 year old daughter!
So to answer your question... if the person isn't family, I won't share a place with them... save, except, for my best friends. Like forward said... my privacy is important to me. |
