Kim Jong Il is a better romanization of 김정일.

No it isnt.
정 is pronounced Jung. (juh-ng) Not Jong (JAH-NG)

Furthermore if you watch the movie JSA or any korean movie that ever mentions him, they pronounce it Kim Jung Il

Where are you from that you would pronounce 'jong' as 'jahng'? Damn, guess we'll just have to disagree on that one.

My Korean pronunciation is pretty spot on, and I have no idea what you are talking about. A bong is a 'bong', dude, it ain't a 'bahng'. See?

No kidding! Bong is Bong? really?
I was writing not as its spelled but as it is PRONOUNCED. Theres a difference and that was pretty obvious from the post what I was doing! I wasnt trying to say that was how its spelled!

The word BONG, os pronounced
BAH-NG.
The word song is pronounced SAHNG

His name isnt JONG as in the word LONG or SONG

His name is Kim Jung Il.

It's more of a Jeong than a Jong so it's prounced like Jawng like is Jaw, or saw.

I wonder how the spelling for Kim Jeong Un is in Korean.

Is it pronounced like oon like in soon or un like in sun?

If you watch the movie JSA there is a part where Sgt Oh slams over a table and says long live Kim Jung Il.

uh...

1. You're quoting a movie as proof of pronunciation?

2. Even if your movie source is right, how do you know he didn't say 'Kim Jong il'? (and no, don't you dare quote sub-titles - we both know how out of whack they are)

3. You've both got it wrong. If you talk to any real North Korean, they're going to say 김정일장군 Wink

I wish I had a bahng packed with some sticky bud. I'd burn the weed and then continue this debate....

*sigh*. As I told you , but your selective reading obviously didn't percieve, the spelling in that manner was a demonstration of PRONUNCIATION! NOT ACTUAL SPELLING!
and BONG is pronounced BAH-NG

BONG rhymes with LONG, rhymes with SONG, but does NOT rhyme with the name of the North Korean dictator!

I know what he said because I can hear it.
and yes Im quoting it because I think Korean people, speaking Korean, would know how to pronounce the turds name.

I think we are working at cross-purposes here. I don't pronounce 정 like 'bong', but neither do I pronouce it like 'Jung".

In any event, I agree with you that the man is a turd.

pronunciations aside, is the new leader likely to open up the country and lay to waste the current leader's legacy?

i saw a small interview with one of his sons, not sure which one, but he flat out said he didn't want to be ruler. he was dressed in some fancy 80's close and was driving an suv.

anyways, what is the liklihood that the next leader is not a psychopathic moron with little man's syndrome? i'm not saying they should open up and allow all sorts of shit into their country; they can still play socialist but the leader should at least make sure that his people arent starving or oppressed.
