When you go to extend your visa after your ARC expires - does anyone know if they extend TO THE DAY your flight leaves - or do they extend in chunks like 10 days - or 30 days??

thanks

You must extend your arc BEFORE it expires. If it has expired than you are here illegally and are being fined by the day for staying in the country. I have a friend who went through this and was almost deported from Pohang Immigration for this, but they did extend it for him after the fact.

Good luck.

ok yes...sorry typo - extend arc BEFORE it expires

But my real question is do they extend your stay TO THE EXACT date that you leave - or do they extend in blocks of time...say for 10 days or 30

I have a flight leaving on the 9th of april - but i would like to extend my visa to the 10th of april (my 30th day) just in case something happens (personal) and i have to change my flight.

I think that they extend it for 30 days, but I'm not sure on thatl. You'll have to call immigration.

I think you can change it to a tourist visa that gives you an extra 30 days. Call 1345 to find out. Before you could extend it 14 days, I think. I'm pretty sure you'll have to show them an outgoing plane ticket, so you'd better get your information straight before buying one.

A non-work extension is good until the day (up to 30 days) of your flight out of K-land - that's one of the reasons you have to have a ticket when you apply.

Ok so they can extend my visa with ANY plane ticket - doesn't matter if its a one way or a return back into korea - as long as i'm out of the country?

Sorry i just need to make sure - and i've been trying to call immigration but i get no answer/am on hold forever.

Hmmm... as for having a round-trip ticket, I don't know - I did it with a one-way.

Nobody knows the answer to any question about Immigration (not even Immigration). "Why?"... "Nobody knows"... "Why?"... "Because it's K-Immi" Wink

Just out of curiosity, what happens if you have a ticket out for the day your visa expires, but then your plane gets snowed in and you can't leave?

In that case I think you'd have to go to the Immigration Affairs Office at the airport and they'd extend your extension.

But... who knows?... it's K-Immi. Laughing

Something else I've always wondered - what if you go through immi to leave k-land, then instead of going to your plane, you sneak back to the arrivals immi gate?
Well, from the airport layout I've seen in Incheon, its probably not easy to find your way to the arrivals gate, but Singapore and Auckland sure looked easily connected.

Edit: The Pusan-Hakata terminal looked connected too. Hide out in the restroom for a couple of hours until the next boat arrives Laughing
