I want to stay at a hut on the ocean like this: https://my1.bizshop.com.au/posterguys/images/MP0590.jpg. Of course I know of the Maldives, but is there any place closer and cheaper that has something like this?

I assume you mean as in a tourist resort and not just a beach house to rent.

Palawan, plantation bay (cebu), Southwestern Thailand, Leyte, my neighbor down the road,

There are LOTS of places like that in SE asia (resorts and otherwise).
