So, today is payday, and I just went to the bank only to discover I hadn't been paid by my PS.

I know this is not normal. What could be the reason, and what should I do? Do you think it will post tomorrow?

Talk to whomever is supposed to be paying you. You should find out immediately right then and there why you weren't paid.

I work at public school and I haven't been paid today either.

I know that's not helpful in any way, but I just felt like sharing.

(Perhaps it's because they know that I'm not at school and I can't go to the administration office and stomp my hooves about it).

I think they have to figure out your yearly tax bill this paycheck. My friend and I were paid, but it is less than normal, so they probably took the amount owing off for tax as well. Maybe an extra 50,000. Probably took them time to do all that math.... I'll see when I get my pay stub. Anyway, it was down to the wire, as in like 5:00 p.m.

At my PS, I get paid only when they remember to pay me. That's why every pay day, I visit the admin. centre and ask them for my pay.

I did it again today, I will check my bank balance this evening. Laughing

That really sucks that you have to do that every month.

I got a little more pay today, inline with the tax return excel worksheet kind of printout I had to sign.

Oh, better check if that myself. Guarantee they forgot. It has only happened to me twice in a year. But it happened last vacation too.I don't know why they don't just put us on the payroll the same as the K-teachers.

Apparently, GEPIK has changed the pay date to the 17th for the 2009 contract.

I've checked my balance, they did pay me. Laughing

Woah woah, you mean all banks don't process all direct credits only at 11pm in this country?! Amazing!

They didn't forget. You can't consistently "forget" something every month in perpetuity.

You can if you're completely indifferent, which is how my old public school administrators were toward me.

The reason is you've been fired... the Ks just can't figure out how to tell you without loosing face. Wink

No... seriously, don't worry! You will get it (probably tomorrow). The school's 'financial officer' undoubtedly hasn't slept in the last two weeks because he's been doing all the K teachers' income tax returns.

That's the thing about this country. Don't be surprised if people try to not pay you and wait until you ask or until their backs are against the wall. Do you think they really don't know that they have to pay you in some cases? It's sadistic, punishing and tactical. Not in every case. In other cases it's just pure ignorance and simple-mindedness.

And don't think for a second that principals don't try to make a buck off you. Not everyone is like that, of course, but it exists.
