Sorry to repost but I was wondering how to get my criminal background check notarized while I am in the US. Can I go to a notary in the city then to the Korean Embassy? or do I go to my Canadian consulate then the Korean embassy?

As well, how should it be done as my background check states that it is a criminal offense to alter it in any manner. I got my check through the Winnipeg police department. It has a seal on it and its signed. I am afraid that it will be invalid if its stamped/written on when it gets notarized.

Thanks Smile

Call the Canadian Consultate in your area and ask them to be sure, or phone the Korean consulate in LA and ask.

I did mine from inside Korea. When I received it from Canada, I took it first to the Canadian COnsulate for the authentification stamp, then I took it to Korean Immigration.

Also, when I took mine to the Canadian Consulte for authentification, they actually didn't write on the CRC, they just stapled a paper to it saying that it was authentic, so I don't think you will have to worry about the altering statement. Just ask them at the consulate regardless - the Consulate has done tons I am sure, and will make sure it is done right for you.
