yesterday i poured about half a jug of korean draino down my shower and the other half in my bathroom sink (overkill i know, but i was getting annoyed at having to do this again so soon).
now there is a horrible smell in my bathroom, i think specifically from the shower drain, and i've had to close my door because it stinks so bad. i've done the whole draino thing before (although not so much of it at once), is it just because of the quantity i put down it, are chances good the smell will go away by itself? anyone have this happen before? |

Your building was built before the '70s, right? This is important. |

| That happened to me when I once forgot to flush a massive dump. |

I'm guessing your drain opener is sulfuric. Run water down the drain for a good long time. DON"T put bleach down any drain in your house or even wash with it until the smell stops.
Snake your drain propperly, or get a plumber to do it. it's easy though.
Install hair traps in your drains. |

does it smell like fumes? Or does it smell something like sewage? If it's fumes it could be dangerous. I remember reading about how some woman used an industrial grade drano-type product once and it produced a toxic gas or something, it was a while back so i'm not sure.
Anyways, maybe try to keep the shower on for a longtime with the door closed and have it shooting directly into the drain. Hopefully that will flush out anything still in the pipes. |

yeah, it actually does smell like fumes not sewage. i was worried about that so i even had my window open for a while. i'm going to try leaving the water running for a while, while the fan on and door closed, hopefully it'll flush down.
my building isn't old at all, it shouldn't be having these problems |
