I am moving to the Kwangju/Gwangju, Gyeonggi province. I was wondering if anyone knew about Yeok-Dong. I can't find any info on the area.
I will be working at Jungang High School. Does anyone know anything abut that high school also? |

You won't find any information on the Gwangju with the site posted above. It's small and not too many foreigners in the town. It's doable for a year but then you will probably want to move. Someone else just asked about Gwangju so try searching for a recent thread and you can read a little more about it. |

I'm currently living in Gwangju. There isn't too much information online about it, as far as I know. Here's the city website, which is amusing, but mostly useless: http://english.gjcity.go.kr/eng_city/greeting.asp
If you're on Facebook, there is also a facebook group called "The Other Gwangju."
There's quite a few foreign teachers here and tons of other foreign workers, some of who speak English. It's the most diverse Korean town I've lived in. In downtown Gwangju and in Gonjiam there are good foreign markets with lots of SE Asian ingredients. There's a Thai, a Vietnamese, and an Indian restaurant, though I hear the Indian isn't good. The Thai is excellent, and the Vietnamese good. There's two Dominos and a Pizza Hut too. For big shopping and western products, I go into Seoul.
If you want to meet up sometime, send me a private message or email me. I think my email is on my profile. |
