Another year in Seoul, another kindergarten graduation.
There were a couple of good, short plays done at my school's kindergarten graduation. The children spoke clearly and knew their parts and actions quite well. One of them also mixed in a few songs, which the children sang fairly clearly, although the background music made a poor accompaniment since it was too fast for the children.
But most of the classes hootchy-kootchied on the stage in skimpy outfits, thrusting their hips and bottoms to thumping pop music, trying desperately to keep up to the fast-paced music to sing lyrics at best half understood. Tune? If the background music were not blasting away over their voices, you would not recognize any tune from the children's mouths, just a cacophony of caterwauling. |

My kids kicked ASS. None of my students missed a line and a couple of them managed to improvise. |

The actual graduation ceremony takes place after each class performs. I guess most people teach in public school nowadays and so are not exposed to this eye-opening experience. |

The director and one of the K-teachers cried. But giving the credibility of my school, I'd say that they were shedding crocodile tears. |
