I just found this saying that I'm supposed to teach but for the life I have no idea what it means. I could interpret this several different ways but I want to see what my fellow native teachers think.

Cheers. and thanks in advance.

It means "say hello to your family from me".

I've never heard anyone under the age of sixty say it so it's a little outdated. I'm not entirely sure why the'd make you teach it when there are so many, many other sayings to choose from. But there you go.

Just nod, say yes, keep the employer happy, then teach the modern equivalent completely ignoring that outdated language. Trust me, it won;t come back on you, they just want you to nod, say yes, then do whateever the hell.

Is it the "Middle School English 2" with the hot air balloons on the cover? if so, it was in the talk and talk on page 16 for me too.

do you teach the Wishing Well series? I came across that phrase too a couple weeks ago but I just told the students to cross it out since I was sure it was an error.

No, I don't. I told them a more contemporary way of saying it would be, "Say hi to your family for me."

Yep that's our book.
Do you hate it as much as I do?

I'm deliberating if it's worth teaching. Because I guess it is proper English, but as perception said it's a bit outdated, so I'd rather not teach superflous things to my students.

Thanks for the help guys. Much aprreciated

I only teach the talkntalk, so it's not bad for me. The rest looks like drudgery though. And yes, the English is often outdated. On the same page is, "How kind you are!" I think my grandmother talked like that.

Yeah its bad, i especially hate the video dialogues. However some teachers want me to teach it. It's much easier to say yes rather than fight, and on the upside it saves me the trouble of making a real lesson plan for that class.

I say that but always assumed it was grammatically incorrect. Because I also say "Can you borrow me 5 bucks?" I definitely wouldn't teach either of those phrases.

Lol, I just taught "remember me to your family" today. It's funny when a correct but archaic English phrase ends up sounding exactly like authentic Konglish.

I still don't understand how books have much to do with teaching the conversational part of a language. I would go home if I had to teach useless crap like you guys are talking about.

Please use videos and more modern stuff as it's almost 2010. Sounds like you guys are teaching 8 track players when the world has gone digital.
