I just came back to Korea for my second year and did not have to do the interview. I think if you did the interview the first time, then the second time it is waived. Not sure about every consulate, but this was the case in Chicago. Just in case, you may want to call them. If you tell them the issuance number, they will let you know if you need to interview. |

Although, this is a Chicago Consulate thread, I'll just add in my experience with Los Angeles Korean Consulate. Because I live in Arizona, LA is my closest consulate. I have never applied for an E-2 visa until now. I overnight mailed my documents from San Francisco on Tuesday around 5:00 p.m., as I was visiting my kids before the Asia trek. LA received them on Wednesday, and I needed to fax them an additional form. I faxed it yesterday, and within 45 minutes the phone rings. It's LA Korean Consulate phone interview. Because I live out of state, phone interviews work.
I was impressed by the speed, and I'll give a plug for Julia, who is the person one talks when calling. |

Were they waving to you at the embassy, or waiving the interview for 2nd year "teachers"? |
