|
|
I have just begun working at a Hagwon in Seoul. My employer has informed me that I will not be covered under the company's health insurance until I receive my Alien Registration Card. She also says that I can not set up a bank account until after I receive my Alien Registration Card. I arrived here on the 27th of Feb. and she is not going to pay me until the 10th of April. She explained to me that the employee gets payed for the previous month on the 10th of each following month and that she would pay me in cash if I did not have a bank account set up by next month. What do you guys think about this situation?

I think it is normal. I get paid in cash. Go get your ARC. It is relatively painless .... |

Thank you for your opinion. How do I go about getting my ARC as quickly and painlessly as possible? |

The first thing you need to do is go get a health check because its a requirement to get your ARC. Ask your employer about it, they should tell you which hospital to go to and set up an appointment for you. After that, either you or your employer needs to go to immigration to apply for your ARC. If they make you go by yourself, they should provide you with all the paperwork. The only other thing you need is a passport photo and I think 10,000 won for the application fee. |

'tired of LA' is mostly right.. except the fee is W30,000; and NEVER give your passport to ANYONE exept Immigration - who will need it to process your ARC... and depending on the Immi office/branch, this will take from 30 minutes to ten days. Download application form and make an appointment here - http://www.g4f.go.kr/pt/InfoDetailR_en.pt?categoryId=2&parentId=380&catSeq=385&showMenuId=367&visaId=E2
Also, if you do not have a Multiple Entry Permit, you may want to get one (stamp in your passport) while you are at Immigration to get your ARC. |
