So I just landed a job with a public elementary school in Kyungi province. They are saying I will having to come up with my own teaching plan/method from time to time such as games and stuff.

I am a first time teacher so I think I lack some resources here. Can anyone recommend good web sites or share some personal experience teaching at a public school in Korea?

I need you more than ever my fellow bloggers. Reach out with love, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, another thing. They want me to start in 7 days. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!I will be in Korea by next Monday. I desperately need some word of advice people.

I'm at a GEPIK elementary school. The first link, barryfunenglish, has resources for the Grade 5 & 6 curriculum.

If you use those, I'm sure your co-teacher will be impressed.

The other links give you the option to make your own worksheets.

Yes! I second the barryfunenglish.com suggestion. I love that website. Unfortunately it has turned my into an extremely lazy teacher as I can just sit behind my desk and let the games do most of the teaching. It takes about ten minutes to prepare a lesson with that site; you can print off some flashcards for some more action-based games if you're that way inclined, make a worksheet or two and then play a couple of online games during class. Brilliant!

Another useful website is http://eflclassroom.ning.com . While it is a little hard to navigate, there's plenty of useful teaching resources. My kids love the BAAM game and all you have to do is download it and change the pictures to whatever you're teaching that week/month. There's also some interesting reading/viewing about teacher development if you've got some time to kill, which you no doubt will when you enter the glorious public school system in Korea.

Good luck! (and remember that the little ones can smell Fear on a teacher from miles away and will act accordingly).

My school wants absolutly useless rewrites of the material copied straight from the teacher's manual... Mindless busywork...
