|
|
Hi all,
Chungdahm Learning has recently issued me an offer. But they only give 5 days to make a decision. Does anone have any insight regarding possible bad consequences of backing out of an offer before you go? Would you get blacklisted or something of the like? s backing out of accepting an offer a serious faux-pas?
Thanks a lot! |

Probably not. It's just an offer. Not a visa.
Seriously guy, think about Japan instead. Or Russia! |

Thanks, Chuvok.
Yeah I would actually prefer to go to Japan, but I've heard its much easier to save money in Korea. Never thought of Russia. Do you teach there?
Anyway, yeah I thought it wouldn't be a big deal, especially when there is only promised money. Anyway, thanks. |

5 days seems like they're being generous in their offer. If you don't accept it, they've got to get someone else who will. It takes a lot of time to get the visa. |

No, martinpil, the OP got the meaning right. You are either rippin drunk, don't practice English as a first or second language, or a combination of the two. Stop being such a pill and either address the question of skip on by.
OP. You shouldn't ever feel forced to accept a position, especially a hakwon position. Tell them you'll give them an answer then you're ready, and if the job isn't there at the time, then so be it. There are enough to go around. In the mean time, blanket every recruiter and resume board with your CV and sift through whatever comes your way.
As for Japan as an option, it is something to explore given the exchange rate situation. Depends on what you want out of your experience. |

Just lie and say your girlfriend was killed in a car crash. You'll need to learn to make excuses when you come here. Rationality and reason have no place between you and your employer. |

Yes, I've been teaching in Russia and the former Soviet Republics for over 7 years.
If its money and money alone you are after, Japan is your best option. Learn to live cheap, and you'll save a bundle. Plus, Japan is more interesting culturally than Korea. Korea may be slightly cheaper overall, but you can blow your paycheck just as fast if you are irresponsible.
I tend to go into saving mode during the winter months. November-March, I focus on the work and refrain from major purchases. By only spending on daily life things, I save up a nice tidy pile for when the weather gets nice, and travel is more fun.
Russia is all about the women. Women here are beautiful and thin! And it is cheap to date here. For example, Russians love walking, so a typical first or second date would start with a walk together in a park or near a river, then move to a cafe for a drink. You will spend less than 15. Whereas in Korea, girls expect you to take them to fancy places and show off for them. $$$$! |
