I was just wondering if anybody has had any success (or failure) using an E-Portfolio to get a job. Is it worth the time and effort to make one? What type of material should be put in one?
Thanks - any ideas or experiences would be appreciated. |

My E-portfolio is just my photo, my degree and a note that I come from one of the englishee speaking countries. |

Did you find that it helped you get a job?
Was it worth it to make?
Will you add to it?
Thanks |

Mine isn't nearly as detailed as the previous poster's, but I think it did help me land a job. I felt that I had possible age discrimination concern coming and wanted to put something out there on the web. I put all the verbiage on Word, and my youngest over the holidays designed a web page. It's all pretty standard - my resume, recent/decent photo, my philosophy of EFL (pretty easy in that I've taken several graduate courses in ESL - and was able regurgitate Cummins and Krashen), and why I wanted to teach in Korea (emphasizing my major in Asian Studies and wanting to "experience new cultures." I know, pretty lame, but I did get three job offers after three interviews and chose the one that was the best fit for me.
I highly recommend doing it. |
