... does it have?
Especially in relation to a public contract?
If one has to leave mid-contract, they won't get a letter of release.
But what does this mean? Does it mean one cannot work in Korea ever again or what?
Or could one leave a public job mid-contract and go looking for a hagwon job while in Korea (in the few days after quitting the public job)?
Or could one leave Korea and come back to a hagwon job at a later date?
Basically, what is a letter of release and what are the consequences of leaving a public job mid-contract?
Thanks. |

It means they won't release you and allow you to do a simple transfer to a new job. You have to get your visa canceled and then apply for a new visa (with all the attendant paperwork).
Your options would require you to leave Korea (handing in your ARC on the way out to cancel your visa) then do whatever you want to do after that: return and begin the visa process anew, change countries or simply go home).

Hey,
Thanks very much for the informative reply.
Following up on what you said, when you say transfer to another job, do you mean changing to hagwon from public?
Or from public to another public job?
Do SMOE allow teachers to change school at the end of their contract? Has anyone here ever heard of it happen or do you have to stay in the same school as long as you are here? |
