|

I'm curious to know how students address you in your public school(s).
Do they usually say (depending on the teacher) Mr, Mrs or Miss "family name", or do they usually call you "first name" Teacher or even simply Teacher? |

Mr. FamilyName
I started doing this because I was tired of addressing Korean co-workers by Mr and Mrs while everyone including students would call me marlow.
I'd ask the Korean teachers to use Mr or Mrs for you as well. |

Either:"Teacher cruisemonkey" or "Cruisemonkey song-sang-nim". Anything else and they get 'smacked'. |

Ms. Lisa or Lisa sonsaengnim. No Lisa Teacher for me. All the other teachers at my school are doing the same thing. Our school director felt that (name) Teacher just sounds awkward. |

For my first six months in K-land, I thought my name was "You are so handsome." |

The nice kids call me by my first name, the less well behaved kids call me "monkey". It doesn't bother me at all, the way I figure it a lot of these kids have parents and authority figures who tell them that people from the West are nothing more than foreign barbarians so I can hardly blame the kids. |

Mr. Jesse is the only thing I will accept. It's my opinion that if I'm teaching English in English than everyone should address me in the proper way in English. I however use my first name because Mr. $%#$%$#% just makes me sound like a pot dealer. |

hmm the 5th and 6th graders would say songsaengnim/misera songsaengnim/misera teacher/teacher
4th graders say all of those as well as just my first name alone. My coteacher who's more strict about discipline teaches 5th grade with me so she doesn't control the 4th graders, but when she hears them say just my name she goes O_O and is about to punish them until I tell her it's ok. My office is like a daycare after their classes and it's located on the floor with the 4th graders, so the kids play with me everyday anyway. I don't mind them calling me by my first name.. they're my good students anyway ;D
good students can get away with everything.. bad students get immediately punished lol.
I call the other teachers by whatever name they ask me to call them without the Mr./Ms., so I don't expect them to call me Ms. last name either. |
