I have about a month left in Korea and am planning on doing a lot of sight seeing. What are some of the must see sights, specifically in the Seoul area?

Namsan tower can be cool on a clear day. It really gives you an idea of how densely populated the city is.

The DMZ is an absolute must-see for anyone living in or visiting Korea. Accept no substitutes and do the USO tour. Book it ASAP.

Myeong-dong on a weekend is a complete madhouse. It's like putting a Gap and a Banana Republic next to the Kaaba during Hajj.

Noryangjin is a cool fish market. You can get fresh stuff right off a boat, carved up and served at one of the side stalls. Great for late night sashimi and soju.

Any of the palaces around Jongno/City Hall are cool to check out.

Dongdaemun's late night market is a sight to behold as well.

Hope this helps!

63 Building in Yeouido at night. You get a great view of the city with the Namsan Tower in the background.

I understand April is a great time to have time off if you like sightseeing and visiting temples and old places during the most photogenic condition as the cherry blossoms will be in full bloom. If you get time off in April, go see the sights such as those 5 old palaces in Seoul, something I still yet to do. Go to very old places. Go on the DMZ tour out of Seoul. I understand Seoul has many tour groups going many places so basing out of Seoul actually gives you the most access to sampling what Korea has to offer.

I'm going to try to squeeze in some sightseeing on the weekends during Spring for great DSLR pics.
