|
|
I've asked my Korean friends to help me out to no avail. I want American style sushi to the tune of spicy crunchy tuna and spicy crunchy salmon rolls, two of my favorites. Also salad with that orange ginger dressing they serve at sushi joints in the U.S. I know I'm in Korea so I shouldn't expect it but this is my biggest craving as of late and I'd go so far as to cook it if I can't find it here.
I went out yesterday to a "Japanese" restaurant and the sushi was nowhere close to what I was looking for not to mention they served that Korean coleslaw salad with mayo dressing as an accompaniment. I was so disappointed and finding the kind of sushi I want would really make my day. Please help me out! |

And I'd like some Somalian kimchi. Any ideas where I can get dried out, dirt covered rotten cabbage??? |

Thanks for the "helpful" and "well meaning" responses. I guess it's grumpy waegook week on Dave's ESL. Notice I said I know I shouldn't expect it but I'd be thankful if I could find it. |

I think because what you're asking is so incredibly unusual. Kind of like asking for a good Korean sandwich instead of one of those western ones.
Try a California roll place. You might get something somewhat along the lines of what you're looking for. |

American-style sushi is more "real" compared to some other types of sushi? I didn't know that. |

Yes. American style is all about keeping it real. |

So I guess American kimchi is more real than Korean kimchi then. Hilarious to hear what Americans think. |

Anyway, I enjoy spicy tuna myself. All you need is ahi tuna, mayo, tobikko (those little orange fish eggs, not the big ones called ikura), red pepper and green onions. Every restaurant does theirs differently so just season to taste. Refrigerate it and make sushi rice. |
