So, yet another pointless expat living article in this crappy paper.

http://www.koreaherald.co.kr/NEWKHSITE/data/html_dir/2009/02/27/200902270051.asp (this site may be blocked if you use firefox)

Why do expats in Korea want to hear about someone having problems in Thailand? Looking in the Jobs forum here it's obvious that many many foreigners coming here face huge problems from being cheated by Korean hogwon owners.

When will the Korean Herald grow some balls on report on the problems in this country?

It'd be nice if the Economist bought the Korean Herald.

http://www.koreaherald.co.kr/archives/result.asp

suggests that his 'work' at the KH consisted of nine articles.

I especially love people who move to a city who's entire economy is based upon prostitution and then make sure to express moral indignation.

Whenever I am in Seoul I buy the Herald Tribune because it has the New York Times crossword puzzle in it. It seems to be a decent newspaper too.

A junior college newspaper would reject that "article." Rolling Eyes

That "article" is just another sign that the Korea Herald has gone downhill in a big way. It's sad, really, that there's plenty of space in the Korea Herald to print that and NOTHING about what English teachers IN KOREA face every day.

This is a bad situation but what I don't get is why he didn't find something else to do when the job fell through. Also, why move to Pattaya?? I know it's cheaper than Phucket, but there's other places one could get by on cheaply. If the noise would bother him, he moved to the last place he needed to be!

What I don't understand is why the KH published such a long article that is only peripherally related to expat life in Korea.

I've actually spoken to Matt in person and I must say that Expat Living reflects the best journalism he can provide.

How about the Sparkling policy:

I found out that I could not use my KB Bank ATM card to withdraw money at any banks here. Before leaving Korea, I asked Korean friends about this, and they all said that they never had any problem using the card in Thailand. Turns out that KB Bank has a policy that goes like this: No foreigners can use their ATM cards abroad. Period.

How can this guy have worked in ESL ten years and not smell a scam anyway.
