I am currently looking for a job in korea. I have 2 master;s degrees in education and have heard that I cold make more money teaching in a private school, but I have also heard many horror stories about it. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Also, I would like to work in Suwon. If anyone is teaching there I would like to here about living and teaching there.

Thanks

The private schools are called hagwons. There are good and bad ones. I think the general consensus is that it really depends on the person whether you'll have a good or bad experience at a certain hagwon. I had a co-teacher who loved my old school, but I despised it. For this very reason you should send your resume out to any recruiter you can find, start at the job listings here. Once you see a few jobs that fit your criteria get in touch with the recruiters. Determine which recruiter is most dependable and go from there.

I might would try looking at universities if I were you.

Oh, and maybe stay away from Dave's. This has become basically a forum where we can whine and complain. It's really not as bad as some make it out to be, it's just that we're in a foreign country and many of us just need somewhere to vent.

Don't really know anything about Suwon but it's pretty far away from the center of Seoul. It'll probably be a little quieter there.

You should be looking at universities; anyone with an M.A. or Ph.D. is overqualified for teaching at school, public or private.
