Here is the situation...
I'm going to have F-4 visa come March. I have a contract to work at a hagwon from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM (come 30 min early for the first class). I will be teaching from 112 to 120 hours per month with above average salary.
There is another position that I applied to awhile ago. It is a part-time teaching adults from 10AM to 12AM (2 hours) at 60,000 won per hour; however, it's an hour on the bus from where I will be teaching. Would I be overloaded?
Anyone else taking on this kind of schedule? Can it be done?

no weekends?
what kind of vacation do you get? will you be able to match up vacation with both jobs?
that's really what I would look at. since you'll be making a lot of extra money I would make sure you can get out of the country or take at least a weeks rest at some point this year
i'm sure you'll be fine, it's not like you're working 14-16 hours a day. take a nap on the bus/subway, rejuvenate, don't take your work home with you |

| Great extra cash but it will wear on you quickly. |

| Depends on your personality and stamina. I hate, "not working". So, I try to fill as many hours per day as possible with paid teaching gigs. I've done it for years. It's a burn out way of life, but when you do burn out, take a month off, go to another country, come back and do it again. |

| For the money you should be able to pull through for a year. I'd see about making the morning gig only M-Th, though. Don't expect to have much of a life through the week. |

How much of a commute with a scooter, and how far from your place is the 2-hour job?
May gain an extra hour or so in bed/catching up with stuff? |

| When some teachers only teach 6 hours a day, I wonder how they occupy their time? Ether 9am to 4pm shift or 4 pm to 11 pm shift, you are left with a lot of free time. |

I also have an F4 Visa, and I have to ask, why are you working the 4:00pm to 11pm? It can't be that much higher of a salary. You can make quite a bit without having to work that schedule. Take advantage of your visa, and stick to part-time work which pays hourly, save time and money.
To answer your question tho, my schedule varies and constantly changing, but usually its something like this: Early morning executive one on one classes, an hour or two of kinder class(which i'll probably quit) after that 4 hours of an after school program, and then an evening class at a corporation.
Anyways whether you get overloaded depends on you. What you can do is try it out, and if its too much you could always quit one of the jobs. |
