From the Korea Times:

"Those involved in the scandal, including offender Kim Sang-wan, were aware of the sexual assault in the early stage. But they were not aware of the severity of the matter and tried to cover it up,'' the committee said in a statement. |
And yet they wonder why this country doesn't get the same level of respect some (other) Third World countries do. C'mon! How can anyone [i]not[/b] be aware of the severity of rape or attempted rape? |

It sure is. Alas, I'm not surprised at all by the attitude or the attempted cover-up. But can you imagine the reaction if it were a GET who tried to rape the woman and his employers tried to cover it up? |

The sex scandal in the major labor union took place last December. The victim offered her home in Ilsan, Gyeonggi Province, as a hideaway to former Chairman Lee Seok-haeng, who was then on the run from police for months after leading a series of violent rallies to protest the resumption of American beef imports.
Lee was soon caught and she became a new probe target for providing shelter to him.
One day, the victim and Kim discussed the probe over drinks. Kim tried to sexually assault her but failed due to her strong resistance. |
Let it go. He was drunk. |
