I've learned a lot on this board, and squabbled a bit as well.
I am a lady of a certain age but managed to land an okay job, at least I hope. I will name the recruiting agency, coz if things fail (by their means, school in question or mine - at least it's a fair fight). I used longbridgekorea.com. It's Canadian based. I'm American, and the recruiter that I dealt with wrote English impeccably. Reason I say this is that I never talked to him on the phone, but considering when he emailed me it was more Korean time wise. I also dealt with a few other Korean based recruiters, and actually was leaning towards teaching on the coast. I ended up going with the former in that I knew what was going on in the process of getting me over there. I also had issues of CRC in that Arizona does not allow you to just pop over to your local police station to get that check. Considering, I was licensed to teach in this state and have been doing, going through the FBI in West Virginia was a bit of a drag but worked out.
Hopefully, the school will work out as well. They have been more than patient with my CRC, visa bit, etc., and obviously no problems paying for my flight. I'm happy -- Fly out of Arizona tomorrow, layover in San Francisco (get a chance to buy more sour dough bread), and they fly me on Singapore Airlines, which isn't too shabby - considering the baggage allowance.
Bad news is that I will probably hit the classroom Friday a.m. Oh well. That's what pictures, ESL/EFL games or for. Maybe I just get to observe -- probably not. |

Wow, imagine that. Someone in Canada who speaks English impeccably. You were so lucky. Canadians are known the world over for not being able to speak English very well! |

But apparently their reading comprehension isn't so hot (assuming you are Canadian). |
