We are planning to buy rentors insurance, but the Samsung policy (which is where some of our healthcare is with) was disappointing. They only allow for 5 million won of theft insurance. That's very, very little. They cover a lot for fire damage, but the theft side of it was a joke. Cost was 60,000 per year.

I've seen that AIG sells 10,000,000 of coverage for 30,000 per year, but that's lacking in the fire area, if memory serves.

Anyone else find a good deal on such insurance?

bassexpander, i was thinking of insurance myself, just to cover theft and fire ( scooter getting stolen, laptop, camera etc ). I'm not sure how things work over here but if my camera, for example, is stolen from a coffee shop, can i claim on the insurance?
Also, is it possible for a westener to get insurance without a korean?

Well, the AIG insurance is cheap and probably plenty of coverage for the average teacher here on a 1-year contract. It's only 30,000 won for a year or so. I think it covers theft, but maybe just stuff inside the apartment? I'm really not sure. I'll try to post a link to Jina's phone number with AIG insurance. I got it off of an ad at the USFK forums dot com.

I don't want to pay that much, if I can help it. We'll just keep shopping around.
