Unfortunately, you must not be black, or African American. The school wants a native English speaker, white, or Korean

Do you have a link to that ad? I'm sure I can't be the only one who wants to email them.

So the school managers are racists. Unless it breaks Korean law, I'm not exactly sure what we're supposed to do about it other than just shake our heads and realize it's another example of racism that unfortunately keeps this society dug deep into the past of hatred and intolerance. Hopefully, it is not reflective of the society as a whole, and hopefully no one is stupid enough to ever want to go work for a bunch of racists.

After an email the guy ended up changing it and also highlighting what I assume is a contact directly at the school.

Not the first one of those, not the last. As another commentor added, there's posts like these:

http://www.worknplay.co.kr/jobseeker/jobSearchView.php?jobNum=184568&start=&page=6

But where do you draw the line with that "racism"? The company? Can you fault the company for not wanting to hire someone who will apparently alienate the parents of those adorable kindergarteners. You can't force change if people don't want it. That's the way it is, and there's nothing wrong with that. You just have to adjust yourself accoridingly if you don't like it---not take those jobs, speak your mind, whatever. Thing is, when stuff like this (or those Nazi commercials) gets pulled, it isn't from some big revelation. They just don't want to deal with annoying emails anymore. Same as back home, actually, except here they don't seem to "find Jesus" and say things like "I want to put the past behind me and move on."

This is so backwards.

I realize that employers can ask for a photo, but is it not against the law to be blatantly racist in your job ad like this?

Also, is this legal at all?

The money is quite good, considering that you will be at the school for two hours at a time. It is 45,000won per hour, and the very nice principal will not take any of this money out for taxes when she pays you once a month.

In cases where a contract is available in the originating country's language, and it has been translated into a target language, the language of origin is king.

What they mean is "Your salary is 45000 Won per hour AFTER TAX." My salary is calculated BEFORE TAX.
