I'm sure it's a lost cause due to the Korean aversion to cheese but are there any halfway decent Italian places to be found in Seoul? Has anyone eaten at some of the places in COEX? Any good? I would kill for a steaming plate of gnocchi in white sauce but I know it's never going to happen.

Antonio's in Itaewon. La Bocca in Itaewon. Both excellent. Never been to Sortino's but I'll bet it's also good. The last two places are run by Italians. Enough said. |

Sortino owns La Bocca. Actually, Sortino's, Villa Sortino, and La Bocca are all pretty good. |

Has anyone eaten at Ola! Mario, or is one of the Sortino restaurants a better bet? |

There's a lot of good Italian places in Seoul. A good one a couple blocks from Sinchon (near Hongdae) station. |

If you want, I can give you an excellent gnocchi recipe that I was given by a friend from Italy. It's the easiest pasta to make. However, I do not know if you like cooking....but it does beat fake Italian food. |

I've had a number of completely satisfactory Italian meals in a number of places. Nothing to write home about but a nice change from the usual dire fare. |

I guess it depends on where you come from back home to what you consider good Italian food here...
sortinos- Average food, over priced! nice decor though..
la Bocca! if you like paninos!
Antonios! good italian food, but not the Itaewon one the cheongdam dong one..
Via Del Sole -across from Exit 2 Apkujeong St.. has an Italian Chef, everything is baked on site! |
